What this checker can and cannot tell you
The NUBAN check digit is calculated from the bank code and the account number together. From the account number alone only the length and format can be checked, and this page says so rather than implying a fuller check has passed.
A NUBAN that is the right length can still belong to a closed account or to someone other than the person you intend to pay.
Confirm the account name and number with your recipient directly, using a channel you already trust. If payment details arrive by email and differ from what you were expecting, treat that as a warning sign and call the person on a number you looked up yourself rather than one in the message.
